In 2009 Jake was part of an International Expedition led by Fabrizo Zangrilli attempting the Cesen Route (SSE Spur). On the final summit push, Jake turned back at 7700m due to poor snow conditions in order to make a safe descent. 3 members of the team reached the top camp on the shoulder at 7900m. The following day several climbers from other teams attempted to reach the summit, but all were forced back by the poor snow conditions. In the end, there was 1 death, but no successful summits in 2009.

The expedition was made into an award winning documentary, K2: Siren of the Himalayas. You can watch the trailer below. If you would like to watch the entire film, you can find out more here: www.k2siren.com. Apologies for ruining the end for you!
