The Experienced Managers’ Programme (EMP) is a 5 step leadership development initiative spread over 12 months. It is aimed at middle to senior managers and is intended to tap into the collective reservoir of talent, knowledge and real-world understanding that they possess. 

The EMP allows participants to:

• recognise just how valuable their hard-won real-world experience actually is and be better placed to make the most of it
• remember what it feels like to work in a high performing team and have the tools and the increased confidence to re-create that feeling back at work
• build up a highly useful network of personal contacts with experienced managers from other parts of the business
  develop confidence in challenging their leaders and being challenged in their own right as a leader
• acquire a compendium of leadership and followership skills that they can apply inside and outside of the workplace
  make a measurable improvement to the performance of the business
• clarify their own development objectives and the choices available to help them convert their rediscovered skills into a pragmatic personal commitment plan

The style of The EMP is participative, pragmatic and adult – It is not a one-off, quick-fix, “one-size-fits-all” solution. It is firmly based on common sense and focuses on drawing on participants’ workplace realities and on involving them in a wide range of practical exercises and grown-up conversations – they are never bored nor are they ever patronised! Right up-front in their invitation to participate from the CEO; potential delegates are asked this question:

"Before you make the important decision to volunteer to participate in this highly-intensive programme, ask yourself this question: 'Do I really have the courage and the burning desire deep down inside to make a positive difference to the organisation and its customers by making measurable improvements in my own personal leadership and followership behaviours and am I prepared to go the extra mile to do this?' It is extremely important that you are totally honest with your answer; because if you are in any doubt whatsoever, you will just waste two precious commodities – your time and our customers’ money."

The EMP is neither for the faint-hearted nor for the risk-averse. We would advise the decision-makers in any organisation contemplating commissioning such a brave and ambitious programme to ask themselves this same question.
