Consultant - Associate

Derek is the IDC Deputy Client Manager for the LMDP. He joined IDC 3 years ago and is a senior consultant and our programme architect. For 7 years prior to this he ran a small network of freelance management development consultants called DADA Associates. In this network he worked with clients such as: Akzo Nobel, Bank of Scotland, Morgan Stanley, NFU, Whitbread Inns, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Scottish Power and SmithKline Beecham.

Derek started his working life in a UK accountancy firm (originally Deloitte Haskins & Sells: now merged within PricewaterhouseCoopers)firstly training as a chartered accountant and after qualifying, worked as a line manager running audit and business advisory assignments. In 1985, he joined the embryonic management training department to bring his line management experiences to the new training programmes. He progresses to manage the overall management programme function providing skills training, team development, coaching and an internal development consultancy service.

On Deloittes merger wit Coopers & Lybrand in 1991, Derek was responsible for integrating and repositioning the management development activities of the new organisation. He subsequently managed the merged management development unit until he left in 1993 to build his own business.
