IDG Wins Fifth Award in Twelve Months

Middle East-based Programme Helped to Improve Worker Welfare in Oil and Gas Industry

A ground-breaking employee welfare improvement programme, designed and delivered by the Inspirational Development Group (IDG) for their client Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), was awarded “Best Practice for HR Capability Development” at an oil and gas industry awards ceremony in Oman last week.

It is the fifth international award that IDG has received for its business improvement programmes in the past twelve months, following similar recognition in the UK and India.

The winning programme – code-named PRISM – involved surveying over 30,000 employees from 200 sub-contractor companies working for PDO in 11 locations across Oman. Surveys were delivered in six languages, with the data collected onsite before aggregated reports were produced for each contractor. IDG subsequently carried out quantitative benchmark and detailed root cause analysis before developing customized improvement recommendations for each company which involved delivering 200 coaching interventions.

IDG’s Regional Director – Middle East, Gerry Woods, said:

“We are delighted that our partnership with PDO has received formal recognition from OPAL because this programme makes a huge contribution to improving standards for workers in often quite harsh environments. The greater prize will be to embed minimum standards across the industry and this award is an important stepping stone.”

The ‘Best Practice Awards’ ceremony, organised by the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL), is designed to identify and honour organisations that have demonstrated best practices in developing, deploying, and maintaining solutions for Health & Safety, Human Resources, Technical Implementations and Small Business Development. The awards also honour innovative uses of emerging technologies, new development methods, and creative funding. Other organisations honoured at the awards ceremony included Shell Development Oman , Oman LNG, Daleel Petroleum, Oman Oil Exploration & Production, Orpic and The Oman Construction Company.

IDG’s client in the programme, PDO, is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman, delivering the majority of the country’s crude oil production and natural gas supply. PDO operates in a concession area of about 90,000 km2 (one third of Oman’s geographical area), has around 130 producing oil fields, 14 producing gas fields and more than 45,000 contractors.

Raoul Restucci, Managing Director of PDO, said:

“I would like to congratulate IDG for this superb achievement across the local industry in Oman. Thanks to all IDG staff in coastal and field locations for sincere collaborative efforts and ONE TEAM spirit. Now for full UN recognition!”
