WHAT WE DO

People Analytics

Using data collection and analysis to align your people with your strategy

People Analytics help you know your business better. By accurately surveying your people and effectively analysing the data, you can:

  • Review and quantify the health and capability of your organisation.
  • Identify areas of strength and weakness, opportunities for improvement and hidden expertise.
  • Assess the state of morale and the quality of your communication.
  • Find out the potential of your human capital whilst fulfilling compliance or health & safety requirements.
  • Make better decisions based on real data, not presumptions.

Our People Analytics system is secure, robust and adapts to your particular organisational needs. It is capable of supporting hundreds of thousands of respondents, whilst conforming to regional diversity and language requirements. We can capture your data either online, via our survey dashboard, or onsite, by organising manual data capture events where online access is not available or practical. The data can then be fed into our powerful visualisation system which can be modified to create reports relevant to you and your business.

Built in collaboration with our clients, our system meets stringent international banking security requirements and is designed to be accessible and intuitive. It speaks the language of your organisation so that you can identify and promote excellence, plug capability gaps, focus internal investment and build a more effective strategy.

Why use IDG?

Why does Data Matter?

Information has become the key commodity of the digital age.

Organisations now rely on technologies that enable data from every aspect of production to be collected, measured and analysed.

Human capital is no exception, and competitive advantage can be gained by using Data Insight to identify areas of strength, opportunities for improvement, and ultimately ensure your people are aligned with your corporate strategy.

Data Insight can help to plug capability gaps, cultivate and promote excellence, support development, and focus internal investment.

People are fundamental to delivering strategic goals.

In complex organisations the difficulty has come in identifying where this human capital is strongest, leveraging the key strengths, and then ensuring they are aligned to the corporate strategy.

Today, these capabilities can be measured as easily as the output of a production line, and once they have been, improvement programmes can be implemented to make the most of them.

So if the business need for collecting and analysing data is clear… where does one start?

What is People Analytics?

There are two elements to gaining insight through People Analytics.

We’ve added a third.

The first element is the means to efficiently collect the data, regardless of any challenges with location, language or number of respondents. The second is being able to visualise the collected data in a way that is meaningful to you.

To those two elements we add the knowledge, capability and professionalism to guide you through both to ensure the best possible outcome. And once you’ve got the insight, we can even recommend what you should do with it.

Let’s look at each element in turn. Click the header to expand the section where necessary.

Collection

We have the capability to collect data from your people no matter how many of them or wherever they are by two methods: online or onsite.

Online

Our online dashboard can be accessed by respondents around the world so they can complete their surveys in their own time. It has capacity for tens of thousands of respondents and adapts to regional language, culture and governance. Security tested and approved to international banking standards, it can be used to collect and compare data on individuals, teams, departments, functions or the entire organisation.

We have the flexibility to create any kind of survey required. This includes standard survey types such as:

  • One-to-Many: i.e. 360° surveys collecting data about the subject from multiple sources, with or without the input of the subject themselves.
  • One-Plus-One: i.e. 180° surveys that collate employee and manager responses.
  • One-Way or 90° surveys and polls.

The system has several key features that give Clients the ability to tailor surveys to their requirements. These include:

  • Respondents can be chosen by the subject or pre-nominated by the management or project team.
  • The system operates in several different languages and surveys can be delivered in multiple languages.
  • Surveys can consist of an unlimited number of questions.
  • Questions can be of any standard type, including Likert scale, Boolean, multiple choice, rank order, Dichotomous, verbatim comments, etc.
  • Reminders for those who have not yet completed the survey can be automatically sent at a designated interval, or as required.
  • All of the online surveys automatically generate individual reports that can be customised with respect to their content, look, time of delivery, and who to deliver to.

Onsite

If for whatever reason online access is not possible, our direct collection solution allows us to capture the data directly from the respondents.

We organise presentations in local languages that ask the required questions to groups of employees (up to 200) at the same time. Respondents signal their answer using a wireless handheld device, and data is collected in real-time, meaning results can be relayed back to the group if required. The data is then uploaded into the data visualisation system when practicable.

This collection technique is useful for:

  • Collecting data from personnel in remote locations, or with low-literacy.
  • Obtaining an understanding of capability & technical competency levels.
  • Collecting comparative supplier performance data.
  • Taking employee engagement surveys.
  • “ethical” snapshots.

Analysis

Our data visualisation system feeds directly from your survey data and is customisable to your requirements, allowing you to create reports that provide insight relevant to you and your business. Whilst the engine carries out hugely complex statistical operations, the interface itself has been designed with an emphasis on usability: an in-depth knowledge of statistics is not required!

A survey by McKinsey & Co found that the biggest issue senior executives have with using big data is that “their managers don’t understand or trust big data–based models and, consequently, don’t use them.” We ensure this doesn’t happen in two ways: 1) by working with you at the design stage to make sure that the information to be put in will equate to data you want to get out; and 2) by designing an interface that is accessible and understandable.

At its core, our data visualisation system cuts aggregated data according to the different elements that were initially fed into it. This is powerful enough to paint a “where are we now?” picture. However, it’s real worth comes sharply into focus over time and multiple surveys after which it can begin to visualise trends and provide a roadmap for a more data-driven based strategy based on real KPIs that have direct influence on the organisation’s performance.

Project Management

We believe our built-in Project Management is one of our main differentiators. We recognise that for complex organisations there is no such thing as “one size fits all” and an “off the shelf solutions” simply do not exist. That is why every one of our survey projects is a collaborative process, from initial consultation through:

  • onboarding,
  • project planning,
  • survey design,
  • user testing,
  • go live,
  • survey delivery,
  • technical support,
  • progress reporting,
  • survey closure,
  • report publication,
  • aggregate data collation and dissemination,
  • analytical investigation
  • project closure.

Every stage is carefully managed in harmony with the client to ensure the process and the outcomes meet expectations and align with the overall strategy of the project and the organisation. From identifying requirements and choosing relevant data collection methods, building bespoke surveys and creating custom reports, through technical support during the collection process, before ensuring you have analysis that talks the language of your business. We can also offer specialist advice on how best to utilise the data captured.
